About Toto
Toto was formed in 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro, David Paich (who at the time were also famous studio musicians working with Boz Scaggs) and singer/bassist Bobby Kimball. The group's name was derived from the Latin word that translates to "all-encompassing" and was determined to explore every style of music.
The third album from Toto, Turn Back, was not a success in 1981. However they came back with their fourth album, Isolation, which contained two hits with the title track and Roseanna. The album and tour make them a household name around the world.
After a break of few years, Toto return with the album Fahrenheit in 1986. The album is a departure from the ballads of previous albums, and features some heavy rock. It was their first platinum album in North America.
During the recording process for the fifth album The group loses its manager and faces financial challenges. They decide to change their name and record a new album with a new producer. The lead vocalist Fergie Frederiksen is let go and replaced by Joseph Williams, son of legendary film composer John Williams and 1950s actress Barbara Ruick. Joseph is more natural as a frontman than Frederiksen and gives the band a needed boost.
The band released Mindfields in 1999 and goes on a major tour across the globe. After a few months in Europe they come to Japan where the shows are sold out. After a brief break, Toto resumes recording and begins recording their first live album titled Absolutely Live in 1993 which includes a cover of Weezer's song Hash Pipe in response to the band covering their hit Africa during their recent tour. Toto's touring group includes drummer Lenny Castro and bassist Shannon Forrest and keyboardist Shem Von Schroeck.

Following this, the group was again disbanded. However, Toto reunited in 2010 to benefit the ALS Foundation. This was the first time all original Toto members had been on stage together in over 31 years. In addition to the original members keyboardist Greg Tambu filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate filled in for Shem Von Schroeck.

The album marked a return to form for the band, and the tour accompanied by sold-out shows in North America and Europe. Toto's reunion was made more exciting by the inclusion of guitarist Steve Lukather and bassist Shem von Schroeck, both of whom had returned to the band.
